Fellrunning can be a dangerous sport although considering the terrain we race and train on and the environment in which we conduct our sport thankfully mishaps and accidents are few and far between. There is no substitute for experience although there are simple things that we can all do to prevent misadventure and one of those is to invest in the proper kit. Nick has written an excellent article regarding the joice of kit for fellrunning, click on the document below to open or download.

Fellrunning articles by Rossendale athletes.
We have received 2 excellent articles on Fellrunning by 2 of Rossendales best ever fell runners.Mervyn Keys has sent us an article on his experiences and especially his introduction to the sport and the Rossendale Fell Race 1981. It is an interesting article and should not be missed ! The second is by Derek Ratcliffe who some of our newer members will not know but who may have heard of. Along with partner Pete(Erroll) Irwin they won the KIMM 5 times and Derek excelled in the longer tougher Lakeland fell races.
